WALDOBORO — Graduates of Medomak Valley High School’s class of 2020 will become some of the first members of The Waldo when it reopens later this year after extensive renovations to the 1936 theatre building.

“In honor of their impressive academic achievements and in appreciation for their extraordinary efforts to complete this school year under unprecedented circumstances in our world, the Board of Directors of The Waldo has presented each MHVS 2020 grad with a gift letter redeemable for a free one-year individual membership to the theatre,” said The Waldo, in a news release.

These students from Waldoboro, Friendship, Warren, Washington, and Union are invited to be part of The Waldo when it opens with movies, live music and theatre, and community programs for all, thanks to this membership gift program sponsored in part by Bangor Savings Bank.

“We know of the challenges that students, families, and educators have had to overcome this semester, and the loss of so many senior-year traditions for graduates,” said Waldo Executive Director, Kate Fletcher, “The Waldo represents both the past and the future for our community, and we wanted to do something to help celebrate these dedicated students. Wherever their futures lead, they will always have a home at The Waldo.”

The Waldo will announce a new membership program in July, ahead of a planned opening later this year.
