Waldo County deputies identify individuals involved in Liberty hit and run

    LIBERTY — The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public for their efforts in locating the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run in Liberty that left a pedestrian with serious injuries.

    According to Sheriff’s Office Lt. Matthew C. Curtis, in a news release, the pedestrian was identified at Alden Andrews, 35, of Liberty. Andrews was transported by Liberty Rescue to Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast, then via LifeFlight of Maine to Northern Light Health – Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where he remains in critical condition.

    Thursday, March 12, at approximately 2:30 a.m., The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a pedestrian in the roadway on Pinnacle Road (ST RTE 220). It was determined that the pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle which was no longer at the scene, according to Curtis.

    Later in the day, it was discovered that Andrew Dinsmore, 47, of Washington, was allegedly operating a 2000 Peterbilt tri-axle tractor hauling a tandem axle trailer in the area and at the time of the crash. The aforementioned was determined to be the vehicle involved that struck Andrews, according to Curtis.

    The crash remains under investigation.

     


     

    The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance with information regarding a hit and run in Liberty.

    Thursday, March 12, at approximately 2:30 a.m., a male pedestrian was struck and seriously injured on Rt. 220 in the vicinity of 978 Pinnacle Road in the town of Liberty. According to Sheriff Jeff Trafton, in a news release, the vehicle involved in the incident did not stop to render aid or call for medical assistance. A passing motorist discovered the victim lying injured in the road.
