From the Vinalhaven Emergency Operations Center, Nov. 6:
Today COVID hit closer to home than most of us are used to. Here are the takeaways:
At least five people have tested positive on North Haven. There are currently no known confirmed cases on Vinalhaven.
Knox County has received a yellow designation from the Department of Education (DOE). This means schools may consider additional precautions to prevent the transmission of the virus. Vinalhaven School will not be in session November 9-11, but is planning to resume in-person learning on the 12th. See The Vinalhaven School Facebook page for updates.
DHHS released updated Community Sports Guidelines today.
Yesterday the Governor mandated masks be worn by everyone* in public places, regardless of the ability to maintain a six-foot distance. If you have questions about when to wear a mask Click Here.

*Face coverings are required for all children age 5 and older in public settings, including school and childcare settings, and are recommended for children ages 2 to 4 unless deemed developmentally inappropriate. Exemptions continue to exist for those who have serious medical conditions or who are otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.
