Vehicle hits tree, comes to rest against St. George house
ST. GEORGE — Two occupants of a Toyota Highlander were transported to Pen Bay Medical Center with minor injuries after the vehicle left the River Road, in St. George, hit a tree, and came to rest against the side of a house.
The preliminary report is that the driver had been travelling southbound on the River Rd when he crossed left over the centerline and left the roadway. The cause of the crash is still pending, Friday, Oct. 29, but is suspected to be medically related, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
One lane of River Road (Route 131) just west of its intersection with Route 73 closed to traffic following the Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021, approximate 3:45 p.m., call to Knox Regional Communications Center. Knox County deputies, along with St. George fire and EMS providers, arrived on scene to find a vehicle with heavy front-end damage against the building, and downed tree limbs on the ground.
Automaster towing used a two-wrecker approach to removing the vehicle. The car was first dragged to the road with the smaller wrecker. Then it was hauled away by the bigger flatbed.
Aside from a few smudges, the side of the house appeared undamaged.
South Thomaston Ambulance assisted at the crash.
