Two roadwork projects in Camden begin June 20

CAMDEN — The Maine Department of Transportation is beginning two projects to make improvements in Camden next week.

One project will involve drainage, sidewalk, and signal work on the part of Route 1 (Elm Street) that runs between Quarry Hill Road in Camden and Commercial Street in Rockport.

The other project will involve drainage and sidewalk work on the part of Route 105 (Washington Street) that runs between Matthew John Avenue and Shirttail Point Road in Camden.

Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 20 and be finished by November 11. Crews will maintain two-way traffic during daytime hours, according to MDOT, in a news release. Drivers may have to stop briefly during night work.

The contractor on this project is Nitram Excavation & General Contractor, Inc. of Benton. The contract amount for both projects is $1,695,070.
