Troy Howard 7th girls basketball edges Medomak for crown

BELFAST — The seventh grade girls basketball teams from Troy Howard and Medomak met on the hardwood Saturday, Feb. 12 in Belfast for the Busline League Championship. 

Troy Howard jumped out to a 7-2 advantage at the end of the first quarter before Medomak took a 17-15 lead into the halftime pause. At the end of the third quarter, Troy Howard regained the lead, 21-18.

In a back-and-forth fourth quarter, the game wound down to the final minute knotted at 26. With 30 seconds remaining in regulation, the Lions scored a pair of points from the foul line to take a 28-26 lead, and ultimately win the game. 

Scoring for Medomak were Paige Gerlack (12 points), Rachel Barbour (two), Olivia McMurrin (two), Grace Havener (four), Brooke McNelly (four) and Lilly Hills (two). 

Scoring for Troy Howard were Hope Reynolds (two points), Teagan Harvey (one), Ariel Duval (six), Jaedyn Brady (seven), Jordin Wight (four) and Emma Tripp (eight).
