What I learned in Covid was that outdoor gathering places are absolutely essential to the health and well- being of a community.

The long- neglected slab where once I dropped off my boys at the Rockport Elementary School  became a literal lighthouse. CIFF created a pop- up drive- in movie theater projecting documentaries for all ages from it’s beacon.  Food Trucks came in fleets.  Bay Chamber Concerts played music for us.  Dance and exercise classes rolled across the cement slab, as did the skateboards.  Soccer and baseball games carried on in the fields. It became a place to gather.

Now we have a once in a life time offer on our table to approve a Community Park for all, which will continue and build on this spirit of gathering with no burden to the taxpayers. 

We are stronger together than apart.
