BROOKLIN — The Brooklin Boat Yard announced Jan. 27 that longtime President Steve White stepped down as the company’s president. Brooklin Boat Yard also announced that Brian Larkin succeeded White as president and is now operating in that role.
Steve White, who took over the boat yard in 1990, is the son of its founder, Joel White.
In the 33 years under Steve’s leadership as president, Brooklin Boat Yard grew to a company of 70 employees. Steve will continue to serve Brooklin Boat Yard in the sales department promoting its boatbuilding and restoration services.
Larkin was formerly a project manager at Brooklin Boat Yard and has been with the company since 1987. As a tenured boatbuilder and manager, Larkin will bring many years of experience to the role of president with the goal of continuing to grow business through restorations and new builds.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to continue working on Brooklin Boat Yard’s workplace culture and product diversity as well as improving its facilities,” he said, in a news release.
In another significant leadership change, Eric Blake will take on a new role as Vice President, Head of New Construction. Blake has been with Brooklin Boat Yard 18 years and has managed significant projects, such as Foggy and Sonny III.
“Being witness to the business that Steve created here in Brooklin has been an incredible experience,” he said. “Being part of a team that’s taking it into the future is simply the best.”
Steve White had this to say about the changes: “Brian and Eric have been carrying the lion’s share of the work now for several years and doing a great job. Thanks to both of them, the rest of the management team and to the entire Brooklin Boat Yard crew. I think it’s the strongest team we’ve ever had.”
Brooklin Boat Yard was founded in 1960 and provides wooden yacht boatbuilding, restoration, service, and brokerage. To learn more, visit www.brooklinboatyard.com.
