Stephen Patterson, obituary
CUSHING — Stephen Allen Patterson, 57, passed away Jan. 13, 2014, at Maine Medical Center in Portland surrounded by his family. Born in Eastport Aug. 27, 1957, he was the son of Robert John and Alice (Anderson) Patterson. He grew up in St. George and attended schools there, where he enjoyed playing baseball. Steve served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Midway and was honorably discharged.
Steve was often found on the water. He worked as a captain of several herring boats, was a lobster and seafood buyer for Crute's Seafood, and owned and operated the Guardian, a scalloping boat that fished out of Rhode Island. He was an avid Nascar fan, and enjoyed camping and spending time with his two favorite pals, Midnight and Mattie.
On May 12, 2001, he married Katherine Boynton of Camden.
Surviving is his wife, Katherine Patterson of Cushing; his son, Trevor S. Patterson of China; his stepchildren, Vicki L. Fales and her children of Rockland, and Billy Nelson of Northport, Fla.; his brother, William Patterson and his wife, Joyce, of St. George; his sister, Sonya Stevens and her husband, Tate, of Perry; three aunts, Meda Gilbert of Rockland, Joyce Hooper of Eastport and Priscilla Patterson of Perry; several nieces, nephews and cousins; his mother-in-law, Madeline Boynton of Camden; and a sister-in-law, Rebecca Saulnier and her husband, Robert, of New Hampshire. He was predeceased by his mother, Alice E. Anderson; his father, Robert J. Patterson; and his father-in-law, Harold Boynton.
Family and friends are invited to a gathering Thursday, Jan. 23, from 4 to 6 p.m. at The Waterworks Restaurant, 7 Lindsey St. in Rockland.
