State Police arrest man who robbed Camden National Bank in Randolph
State Police say they have arrested the man who robbed the Camden National Bank in Randolph Oct. 31. Michael Giacomuzzi, 32, of Pittston, was arrested at a home in Pittston early this morning by the State Police tactical team, according to Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland.
Giacomuzzi lives elsewhere in Pittston, but was staying with a friend last night at a house at 27 Capitol Street. Troopers called him on a phone and used a PA system and he surrendered without incident about 5:00 a.m. and was taken to the Kennebec County Jail in Augusta.
State Police said the arrest was a result of a number of tips they received after releasing photos of the robber and his car on Saturday. The lone robber entered the bank, located at Googin’s IGA Store on Water Street and handed a note to a teller demanding money and saying he had a gun. The robber made off with $5,900 and none of the money has been recovered.
Giacomuzzi’s criminal history includes past drug arrests. He also bought another car over the weekend, likely with some of the stolen money. He is charged with robbery, theft and violating his probation conditions, police said in the release.
