Special screening of 'Meet Cute in Manhattan' with producer and Medomak Valley grad Kacey Montana
A screening of the new film Meet Cute in Manhattan, from local producer Kacey Montana, will be presented Saturday, Sept. 6, at 5:30 p.m., at the Strand Theatre. A talk-back with Montana and Terence Chen, a co-producer and cast member, will follow the screening.
This rom-com set in New York follows Jason (Terence Chen), who grew up watching romantic comedies with his family and longs to see an Asian lead who looks like him. His “meet cute” first encounter with Nora (Kendall Leary), an aspiring architect, leads to them both getting casted in a viral dating app commercial, where their on-screen chemistry captivates viewers citywide and sparks genuine feelings between them. Inspired by this unexpected romance, Jason writes a script based on their burgeoning relationship. The film unfolds under the lens of Jason pitching the script, creating a rom-com within a rom-com as the executives listening to his pitch find themselves falling in love as well.
Kacey Montana graduated from Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro in 2012. This is her first feature film production, following the release of several film shorts.
