Sea of orange. (Photo courtesy South School)ROCKLAND — South School hosted its second annual Unity Day celebration on Wednesday, October 19.
On Unity Day everyone is invited to wear orange to stand in unity for kindness, acceptance and inclusion to send a message that no student should ever experience bullying.
The events of the day included an assembly with student poetry readings and the announcement of the winners of a coloring and poster contest.
October is National Bullying Prevention Month.
During October school counselors Monica Karam and Bethany Browne teach a bullying prevention unit while teachers incorporate bullying prevention materials into their teaching.
The “chool counselors and teachers look forward to the bullying prevention month and Unity Day events getting bigger and better each school year!” said South School, in a news release.
