TENANTS HARBOR — Shiloh M. Meklin, 36, died unexpectedly May 22, 2013, at her home.

Born in Rockport Nov. 20, 1976, she was the daughter of Carl "Butch" and Janice Wilson Taylor. Growing up in Thomaston, Shiloh was educated locally and was a 1994 graduate of Georges Valley High School. A member of the Georges Valley girls' basketball team, Shiloh excelled in the sport. While still in high school, she began working as a waitress for several local restaurants, including Cappy's, Conte's and Applebees.

Shiloh had two loves in her life, her son, Alex, and her daughter, Raven. They were her whole world. It was said that whatever they were doing, was what she wanted to be doing, and she would do anything for them.

She had a huge heart, one that was always willing to help others. Her family said she had the gift of nurturing and even as a young girl wanted to become involved in helping the homeless population.

Shiloh will be remembered as an honest person, one who spoke her mind; you never wondered what Shiloh was thinking. She liked the Shakespeare quote, "To thine own self be true."

Shiloh loved shopping, cooking and being with family. They said she was a happy person, and although she liked to portray a tough exterior, she was really just a softy at heart. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Predeceased by her grandparents, Miriam Taylor and Carl Peters; and her aunt, Heather Coolbroth Bowring; Shiloh is survived by her mother, Janice Wilson of Thomaston; her father and stepmother, Carl "Butch" Sr. and Sherri Taylor of Cushing; her children, Alex Libby and Raven Meklin, both of Tenants Harbor; her brother, Carl "Butch" Taylor Jr. of Thomaston; her half-sisters, Amanda Taylor and her companion, Glenn Wiley, of Warren, and Heidi Cushman of Florida; her stepsister, Darcie Crabtree of Cushing; her stepbrother, Derek Orff of Thomaston; three special cousins, Amy Davis, Amber Benner and Travis Doughty; her grandparents, Gloria and Joseph Coolbroth of Rockland; her nieces and nephews, Josh Haskell, Ben Pollis, Chris Pollis, Jeremy Socobasin, Grace Wiley and Taylor Wiley; as well as a large extended family and wide circle of friends.

Family and friends are invited to visit Tuesday, May 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland. A celebration of Shiloh's life will be held Wednesday, May 29, at 10 a.m. at Thomaston Baptist Church. The Rev. Wayne Sawyer will officiate. Interment will follow at the Village Cemetery on Erin Street in Thomaston. All are invited to return to the church for a potluck reception, following the interment.
