SEARSPORT — Searsport police are on the hunt for brand new appliances and light fixtures stolen from Habitat for Humanity’s most recently erected home, located on Old County Road.

The items, which were stolen from inside the home, were donated to soon-to-be homeowner Brandi Brown, according Meg Kingelhofer, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of Waldo County.

The theft occurred sometime between 3 p.m. Nov. 7 and 9 a.m. Nov. 8, and was discovered by a friend who drove by the residence and noticed the front door was wide open, though no cars were in the driveway.

Brown and her family are scheduled to close on the home this month, though the dedication ceremony was held on World Habitat Day, Oct. 2.

Searsport police will be performing drive-by security checks until the family has moved in.

Anyone with information is asked to call Waldo County Dispatch at 338-2040 and ask for a Searsport police officer on duty.

Tips can also by left anonymously by calling 548-2304 and leaving a voicemail.
