Ruth P. Emery, obituary

WARREN — Ruth P. Emery, 91, passed away peacefully, Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Harbor Hill Nursing home in Belfast.

Born in Warren, June 18, 1930, she was the daughter of Harold R. and Hazell Burkett Pease. A lifelong Warren resident, Ruth was a 1947 graduate of Warren Academy and a 1948 graduate of the Golden School of Beauty in Portland.

In 1949, she married Robert N. Emery, and for many years she worked stitching in local factories. For a brief time, she and her husband owned and operated a restaurant in Warren Village. After selling the restaurant she stayed home to care for her mother. In her later years, Ruth worked for H&R Block and served as bookkeeper for her son’s business, Robert N. Emery, Jr. Construction. She was also a Licensed Maine Realtor.

Ruth was a life-long member of the Warren Baptist Church and belonged to the D.A.R.

Bob and Ruth enjoyed many trips across the country with friends and family. Two of her favorites were to Nashville and Las Vegas. They also enjoyed family get togethers and playing Beano.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Robert N. Emery, Sr. in 1988.

Ruth was also predeceased by her long-time partner, Harlow Mank, in 2013. She and Harlow enjoyed winters in Florida, dancing on Saturday nights, Beano and a group of friends that kept them young at heart. Ruth’s family will always be thankful for the kindness and caring the Mank children gave Ruth.

Also predeceased by her siblings, Harold Pease, Earl Pease, LeRoy Pease, Philip Pease, David Pease and Vera Morse, she is survived by her daughter, Denise Blake and her husband Philip of Hampden; her son, Robert N. Emery, Jr. of Warren; her grandchildren, Lisa Hart and her partner Jay Michaud, Robert Blake and his wife Laura, Tiffany Emery, Bobbi-Jean Young and her husband Chris, Robert N. Emery, III and his partner Amber Saunders; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; her siblings Phyllis Young of Modesto, California, and Kenneth Pease of Lewiston; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 22, 2021, at 11 a.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. The Rev. Dr. Linwood Welch will officiate. An hour of visiting will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., before the service. Interment will follow the service in the Fairview Cemetery, Patterson Mill Road, Warren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Warren Baptist Church, P.O. Box 294, Warren, ME 04864.
