Ronald Hutchins, obituary
ROCKLAND — Ronald T. “Hutch” Hutchins, 43, died Jan. 25, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his family, after a long illness.
Born in Torrance, Calif., Nov. 14, 1970, he was the son of John G. Sr. and Virginia R. Osgood Hutchins. He attended local schools and while at Bell Gardens High School, excelled in water polo and football. After moving to Lynn, Mass., he attended Lynn Classical High School.
Hutch began employment with East Coast Seafood in Lynn, where he developed a knowledge and love of the lobster business.
He later settled in Rockland, and has since been employed with Owls Head Lobster. Through his work with that company, Hutch made many lasting friends. His speedy and accurate math skills, earned Hutch recognition as the “human calculator.” He loved talking about his job and enjoyed driving the truck to Boston, delivering lobsters for shipment from Logan International Airport.
Not only was Hutch a hard worker, but he was devoted to his family and friends. He would take the time to listen to anyone and always approached people with an open heart. Often, he urged and supported his children to continue their education.
For almost 15 years, he enjoyed the companionship of his soul-mate, Michelle St. Pierre. She often lovingly referred to him as her “Amazing Man.”
