Rockport says no to marijuana business in town, yes to statewide Medicaid expansion

    Rockport voters, 1,166 of them, turned out in a steady stream Nov. 7 to address state and local ballot questions. By 8:40 p.m., the tallies were counted, and Rockport voted to prohibit marijuana retail stores and social clubs in the town. 

    They also Rockport will approved charter amendment that designates the Select Board to appoint town auditors, and to manage the town’s reserve funds.

    The town voted 690 to 452 to prohibit marijuana business in town, voted 898 to 204 and 1,013 in favor of the charter amendments.

    For the state ballot, Rockport said no to a casino in York County, voting 1,050 against and 115 in favor of the citizen initiative.

    Rockport approved Question 2, the measure to expand Medicaid, at 775 to 387.

    Voters endorsed a state  transportation bond, at 950 to 199.

    And, Rockport voters approved the Constitutional amendment to reduce volatility in state pension funding requirements caused by the financial markets by increasing the length of time over which experience losses are amortized from 10 years to 20 years, in line with pensions industry standards, by 854 to 248.
