LINCOLNVILLE — Robert Payne, 66 of Lincolnville, passed away Sunday January 28, 2023 at the Sussman House in Rockport.

He was born on October 4, 1956, in Searsmont and moved with his family to Lincolnville at an early age. He graduated from Camden Rockport Highschool class of 1974 and went on to pursue a lifelong career in carpentry. He was well known in the area as a skilled carpenter and built, repaired, and remodeled many beautiful homes, until illness forced him to retire.

Robert had a passion for mining, gold panning, camping, hiking, fishing, and gardening and enjoyed spending time in the Rangely area looking for hidden treasures.

He is survived by his mother, Carolyn Boivin of Morrill; his son, Travis Payne and wife Judy of Plymouth and his beloved grandson, Levi, who says “Grampy is walking over the rainbow to be with their dog Rodeo”; his siblings Shari Massero and her husband Jim of Waldoboro and Terry Boivin of Morrill; a special niece, Selena Miller of Warren; stepsiblings David, Steve, Mary Ann, Jenny, Louise, and Pamela, plus several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his biological father, Paul Payne, and stepdad, Henry Boivin; as well as his sister Laura Nelson with whom he had a very special bond.

Burial will be held in the Spring at Hunt Memorial Cemetery in Liberty alongside his grandparents and sister at the convenience of the family.

Many thanks to the staff of the Sussman House for the care and love shown to Robert and his family while he was there.
