Richard T. Heald, obituary
CAMDEN — Richard Thomas Heald, 69, died Nov. 25, 2013, at home in Camden. Born on Islesboro July 24, 1944, he was the son of Kenneth and Hope (Thomas) Heald. He was a graduate of Camden High School and served in the U.S. Army in the Weapons Infantry Division from 1962-1965.
Richard owned and operated several small businesses over the years, including the Camden Cook Stove Company, where he bought and restored wood and parlor stoves. He also co-owned and operated Maine Way Builders, a construction and general contracting company. For many years, Richard had been the property manager for Highland Park Apartments, and his most recent venture involved his love of antiques, in which he worked restoring antique oil lamps.
Richard enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, gardening, working on cars with his son, and especially his family and friends that attended "Friday night bowling league."
Surviving are his two children, Mischele Marie Paulsen and her husband, Dan, of St. George, Nicholas Mark Heald and his wife, Tracey, of Camden; and two grandchildren, Zachary Thomas Carleton of Rockport and Nicholas Hayden Heald of Camden. He was predeceased by a son, Mark Todd Heald; and his parents.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, Dec. 7 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain St. in Camden. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
