Richard I. Webb Jr., obituary
ST. GEORGE — Richard I. Webb Jr., 86, died Jan. 27, 2014, at the Cushing Homestead following a long illness.
Born in Thomaston March 22, 1927, he was the son of Richard I. Sr. and Elizabeth Newbert Webb. He was educated in Thomaston and Syracuse, N.Y., schools.
Dick worked as an arc welder for 10 years with the Carrier Corporation, in New York, before returning to this area in 1959. He worked at various metal fabrication jobs, including Snows Ship Yard, Rockland Marine Corporation, 40 Fathoms Seafood, Fisher Engineering, Newbert and Wallace Boat Builders in Thomaston and Lash Brothers Boat Yard in Friendship. More recently, and until retiring due to illness, Dick provided metal fabrication for many people from a shop at his home and on Monhegan Island.
He was particularly fond of his constant companions, Billy Goat, Jamie and Snoopy.
Dick is survived by his wife, Mary L. Watts Webb of Tenants Harbor.
Spring interment will be at North Parish Cemetery at Wileys Corner in St. George.
Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home in Rockland.
