Richard Bates to discuss 'Lightning, Meteors, and Marine Traffic: Citizen Science and Engineering'

On Thursday, June 26, from 5 to 6 p.m., the Jackson Memorial Library, in Tenants Harbor, will host “Lightning, Meteors, and Marine Traffic: Citizen Science and Engineering.”
Citizens around the world are collaborating in all kinds of fascinating science and engineering projects using the internet and GPS. In this talk, local resident Richard Bates will describe a few projects he's currently participating in, such as locating lightning storms, detecting meteors, tracking air and marine traffic, and operating packet radio stations.
