Ralph D. Field, obituary
SACO — Ralph D. Field, 96, died Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the Kennebunk Center for Health and Rehabilitation following a period of declining health.
Born in Columbus, Ohio, August 20, 1924, he was the son of LaMotte and Mary Zimmerman Field. After high school, Mr. Field enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed on the west coast. Following the war, he attended Stanford University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration.
For thirty six years, Mr. Field worked as a manager for the General Electric Corporation primarily for the Lamp Division in northeast Ohio.
Over a period of thirty three years, Mr. Field, together with his wife, Elizabeth, raised their family in Austintown, Chagrin Falls and Poland, Ohio. In 1986, Mr. Field and his wife retired to Rockport, Maine, then he moved to southern Maine in 2019 to be near his daughter.
Mr. Field and his wife were congregants of the First Unitarian Church of Cleveland located in Shaker Heights, Ohio and then throughout his retirement with the First Universalist Church of Rockland, Maine. Mr. Field enjoyed helping with the business operations of the church, as well as engaging in its lively fellowship.
Predeceased by his wife in 2015; and a brother, William B. Field in 2002; Ralph is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Edward Bell; his son and daughter-in-law, Brownlee Field and Kim Kvocka; his daughter Melissa Field; and granddaughter, Lauren Field.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 29, 2021, at 2 p.m., at Oak Hill Cemetery, Camden. Donations in memory of Ralph Field can be sent to the First Universalist Church of Rockland, 345 Broadway, Rockland, ME 04841.
