CAMDEN — Priscilla Ann Clancy Hart, 89, passed away peacefully June 12, 2020, at the Sussman House.

Born October 2, 1930, Priscilla was the daughter of John and Carrie Clancy of Camden. A lifelong resident of Camden, she loved her beautiful town on the coast of Maine.

A 1948 graduate of Camden High, she attended reunions until her last years, loyally following Camden basketball, first as family was associated with Camden teams, then joining her sister-in-law, Nellie, in the bleachers. She later listened faithfully as Charlie Crockett gave play by plays of her beloved Windjammers.

As a young adult, Priscilla worked for Frank Thomas Fuel Company. Walking to work up Bay View Street, she would pass by the Bay View St. Garage, catching the eye of David Hart, who had returned to his family’s home, after growing up in Pennsylvania. Once married, they moved into what is now the Hartstone Inn to care for David’s grandmother, Mary Hart. Here they raised their two children, Sharon and David Jr.

For many years they owned and operated Shell Elms, a gas station, located where what is now The First National Bank. After selling the gas station, Priscilla worked for a time at the American House, a gift/card store which was located on Washington Street.

A devoted family person, Priscilla joined her family as they fished, picnicked, and skied on Megunticook Lake. She loved entertaining family in backyard lobster/clam bakes. Competitive croquet tournaments were held with her mother and aunts. Countless hikes were made up Mt Battie picking wild blueberries all the way. She helped cook and serve lunches at the old Snow Bowl Lodge. On the family’s many trips to Sugarloaf, Priscilla toted lunches and books. She even chose to ride a moped during the years her family was riding motorcycles.

Children, big and small, recall her “magic” drawer. With a wave of her hand and an “abracadabra”, she would produce a wealth of treats.

After the passing of her husband, Priscilla found a home with the parishioners of John St. Methodist Church. She spent countless hours cooking and working on various committees.

She filled her time watching the Red Sox and Patriots. In her later years she added NASCAR racing to her repertoire. She enjoyed a friendly competition with her neighbor over whose driver had a better record.

Priscilla is predeceased by her husband, David Hart; her son, David Hart, Jr.; a brother, Robert Clancy; sister-in-law, Nellie Hart; brother-in-law Stuart Purvis; and good friend Jack Williams.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara Purvis of Connecticut; her brother-in-law John Hart of Camden; her daughter, Sharon Hart of Waterville; and granddaughter, Melissa Potter and husband Michael Potter of Massachusetts. She has four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Alden, Rowan, and Phineas Potter of Massachusetts, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be announced in the future. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.longfuneralhomecamden.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The John Street Methodist Church in Camden. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
