ROCKPORT — A new MRI machine was delivered to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport this week as part of a $2.9 million investment that includes a new 966-square-foot MRI suite and control room.
The new MRI will allow PBMC to offer more advance imaging close to home, including imaging for cardiac patients. The MRI also includes a number of “comfort suite” features – including customizable lighting, video and music – to help reduce anxiety and claustrophobia.
Studies show that these features help patients relax and hold steadier during a scan, which leads to high quality images.
The MRI unit arrived on a flatbed trailer on Monday morning, along with more than a dozen crates containing various components.
