CAMDEN — With a shelter full of animals and three fundraising events cancelled this year due to COVID-19, this has been an especially challenging year for PAWS Animal Adoption Center, according to PAWS, in a news release. The need for support is more urgent than ever.

The Camden-based nonprofit has expanded essential services to include much needed mobile access and emergency services in response to the pandemic, including a pet food pantry and new partnerships with Coastal Healthcare Alliance, New Hope for Women and Penquis to help pet owners in dire need as the pandemic continues. PAWS also reports more and more animals being surrendered to their shelter every day, in a rapidly changing economy.

With an increased need for services and hundreds of displaced dogs and cats looking to the shelter for help, PAWS has had to get creative with how they raise funds this year.

PAWS has announced a series of virtual online fundraising events for the holiday season and they are asking for your full support. The PAWS 50/50 Raffle for the Animals will kick off the festivities starting on November 9, 2020 and will close on December 9, awarding one lucky winner with a jackpot worth 50% of the total amount raised.

To purchase entries into the PAWS 50/50 Raffle for the Animals or to find out more about PAWS holiday fundraising events, including their upcoming Auction for the Animals Online, visit their website at www.pawsadoption.org or email events@pawsadoption.org.

All proceeds benefit the animals at PAWS, with food, shelter, preventative care, adoption, and in many cases, life-saving veterinary care.

Established in 1974, the mission of PAWS Animal Adoption Center is to provide care for homeless dogs and cats until they can be placed in permanent, responsible homes, while promoting humane values in our community through outreach and educational programs.
