ROCKLAND — Michael L. Lewis, 58, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, January 26, 2021 due to complications of alcohol addiction.

Born in Rockland, September 9, 1962, he was the son of Donald and Mildred Staples Lewis. Mike attended local schools and was a 1981 graduate of Georges Valley High School.

Mike was a ‘people person’ and made friends easily wherever he went. His easy going nature made him a great fit for the many years of employment at the Samoset Resort and later at Breakers Resort in Palm Beach, Florida.

A talented artisan, he worked designing, installing and working with custom high-end granite and marble pieces. At one point Mike was selected to go to Japan to work on the Embassy there. In addition he studied in Germany, learning to install corrugated metal on thin pieces of marble for ships. Mike was extremely proud of the work he completed and was well on his way to becoming a project manager and supervisor.

Mike will be sadly missed by all who loved him.

Predeceased by his father, Donald Lewis in 2001; Michael is survived by his mother, Mildred S. Lewis of South Thomaston; his children, Samantha Keklak of Buffalo, New York, and Ricky Lewis, Katie Lewis and Josh Lewis all of South Carolina; his brother, Philip Lewis and his companion Sandy Lundquist of Rockland; his sister, Melissa Grierson and her husband Colin of South Thomaston; one granddaughter, Bella Desmond of Buffalo, New York; as well as his nieces and nephews, Sadie Lake, Anna Grierson, Oliver Grierson, Owen Lewis and Ryan Lewis.

Mike’s family has chosen to remember his life privately and he will be laid to rest beside his father in the spring of 2021.
