Micah Boland, obituary
ROCKLAND — Micah T. Boland, 37, died unexpectedly Feb. 28, 2014, at Maine State Prison in Warren.
Born in Rockland Oct. 10, 1976, he was the son of Craig W. and Elizabeth A. Godard Boland. While growing up in Rockland, Micah attended local schools and for one year, attended Medomak Valley High School.
At the age of 14, he began working as a sternman aboard lobster boats out of Rockland and Owls Head. Noted as a hard worker, he spent one summer lobstering off Matinicus. For several years, Micah worked with Tom Philbrook at Ship to Shore Lobsters at Owls Head. Most recently he worked with the construction crew renovating the Navigator Motel.
Micah loved building models and working in the wood shop. He recently learned to play bass guitar and played for worship services.
Other than his father, Craig Boland of Rockland; and his mother, Elizabeth Boland Lavin of Cumberland, Md.; Micah is survived by his brother, Caleb B. Boland and his girlfriend, Kimberli Kopf, of Jefferson; his sister, Sarah M. Boland of Rockland; a niece, Rivers Boland; and a nephew, Blaine Boland; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit Sunday, March 9, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland, where a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
