Belfast Area High School students in Ms. White and Mr. Lagerbom's Marine Studies class recently practiced navigating with the class' ROV drone. Learning goals were the operation (how-to) and maintenance of the research vehicle.

A navigation course in the pool was set up and students practiced navigating by the remote control, necessary training for open water use.

While the semester-long elective will conclude in January, long term goals include opportunities for independent study projects, more marine-related courses, and practical hands-on experiences to help students fulfill STEM and Marine Studies Program requirements and earn the endorsement.
