Maine Sport hosts 7th annual Turkey Ride, Nov. 15
The 7th Annual Turkey Ride sets off from Maine Sport Outfitters Rockport store on November 15 (rain date November 16). Join the Maine Sport crew and other local cyclists as they bike around the community for the community.
The ride starts at 9 a.m. at the flagship location (115 Commercial Street, Rockport) where bikers will then travel to the local Hannaford to purchase turkeys and then to the Camden Area Christian Food Pantry (CACFP). Maine Sport’s bike shop professionals have created two alternative rides back to the store depending on the individual's comfort level.
The Turkey Ride is Maine Sport Outfitters’ way of giving back to the community it has called home for the past fifty years. Riders will purchase their own turkeys and seasonal sides or if you are a youth or veteran rider, Maine Sport will purchase the turkey for you, and the group delivers the products to the pantry on bikes or by van.
“It is a great community experience, especially sense it is something that the whole family can participate in” says Colin B., from Maine Sport’s bike shop, who has attended the turkey ride since its conception. “Last year, over fifty turkeys and sides were donated to the food pantry and [the CACFP] were super grateful. I look forward to doing it every year!”
Registration for the Turkey Ride is free. Register online at mainesport.com/pages/turkey-ride, or in person at MSO’s Rockport location.
