Maine DOT to begin milling routes 1 and 73 in Rockland Aug. 11

ROCKLAND — The Maine Department of Transportation will be working on Route 1 and Route 73 in Rockland starting Monday, August 11. The project is a mill and fill highway preservation project.
Work is scheduled to be completed by July 2026.
The project area begins at Washington Street and extends north 0.86 of a mile as well as on Old County Road and extends north 1.51 miles to Sea Light Lane.
The work consists of pavement milling, hot mix asphalt overlay, with drainage and safety improvements. Drivers will encounter alternating one way traffic at night on Route 1 and some lane shifts to maintain 2-way traffic during the day.
THe contractor on this project is All State Construction of Sunderland, Massachusetts. The contract amount is $4,541,342.
