BIDDEFORD — A former Belfast Area High School field hockey player was honored earlier this month by the Commonwealth Coast Conference for her athletic play during her junior season with the University of New England. 

Lindsay Bruns was among eight players from the University of New England to receive recognition from the conference. 

Bruns, a junior, was among five to receive first team all-conference accolades, voted on by the seven head coaches in the conference. 

A dental hygiene major, Bruns is a forward on the field hockey team and started each of the 17 contests she appeared in this season for the Nor’easters. 

She tallied nine goals and two assists as the squad compiled an 11-7 record.

In 2019, Bruns was the conference’s rookie of the year.
