THOMASTON — Linda Charlene Griffin, 64, died unexpectedly at her home Aug. 17, 2013.

Born in Camden June 10, 1949, she was the daughter of Lonnie C. and Florence L. Roberts Griffin. She was educated in Appleton schools. Raised on her family's Appleton farm, Linda would get up early to milk and feed the cows. When her mother became ill, for a time she became responsible for helping take care of the house and her two younger siblings. She was resilient in her duties.

She was proud to work as an apparel associate at the Rockland Walmart, and on Oct. 19, would have celebrated 21 years employment with that company.

For the past 24 years, Linda has enjoyed the friendship and love of Sheila and Walter Breen in Thomaston, where she lived with her two foster sisters, Joanna and Cheryl. Together, they took many bus trips all over the country, including visits to the Grand Ole Opry and Branson, Mo. Linda was adored by the Breen children, Danny, Billy, Brian and Kim, along with their spouses. This love went both ways. She was also very fond of the Breen grandchildren, especially Misty and April, who lived next door.

Always a social person, Linda enjoyed visiting her friends or having them visit her, going out to eat and socializing with her friends at work. She liked visiting her special sister-in-law and husband, Melody and John Dugan, at More to Life Family Camp Ground in Winthrop. She enjoyed spending weekends with her niece, Fawn, and playing cards and drawing with her nieces, Savana and Marina, and nephew, Lonnie Adolphsen. Children and babies held a special place in Linda's heart and she saved her quarters, often giving them to children she knew. She also loved her dog ZaZa. Linda will always be remembered for her laugh, which could often be brought on by her nephew, Shawn Griffin.

She loved going to church and attended Souls Harbor Church of God in Rockland.

Besides her parents, Linda was pre-deceased by two brothers, Lonnie Jr. and Jerry Griffin, and a sister, Beth Griffin Hutchins. She is survived by two brothers, Dale Griffin and his wife, Lucille, of Warren, and Stanley Griffin and his wife, Susan, of Union; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland, where a funeral service will be held Thursday, Aug. 22 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Chris Chapel will officiate. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Appleton.
