BELFAST — An exhibit titled “Amaryllis,” by Lee Silverton, will be on display in the Kramer Gallery of the Belfast Free Library through December.

“I bought my first flowering amaryllis in 1999 and have been portraying this amazing tropical plant in all its varieties and aspects ever since” said Silverton, in a news release. “I’m fascinated by every phase of the amaryllis’s life, from its beginnings as a bulb to the end of its existence as desiccated fragments.”

The exhibit includes Lee’s earliest charcoal drawings and, more recent, acrylic and mixed media work on prepared paper and YUPO.

Lee Silverton received a BFA from Pratt Institute and later studied at the School of Visual Arts, the New York Studio School, New York University and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. She has exhibited landscape, figurative and botanical works in New York and Maine.

She moved to Belfast with her husband in 2002.
