Story Location:
Langlais Sculpture Preserve
Cushing, ME
United States

Georges River Land Trust has submitted the following:

As with all the Georges River Land Trust preserves, the outdoor Langlais Sculpture Preserve in Cushing at 576 River Road is open to the public dawn to dusk. The woodlands, sculptures gardens and shoreline are delightful to explore across the 30+ acres accessible to the public, including the 1/4 mile all accessible trail that winds around the outdoor sculptures.

The Langlais Barn and Studio will also be open Saturday and Sunday, from 1 - 4 p.m., beginning on July 11, and running through the end of August, for people to see more of Langlais’ works and his creative process.

To open the buildings, we will be following the recommendations made by the Maine CDC for everyone’s safety and health. People will be required to wear masks when coming indoors to the studio and barn and practice social distancing. Only four guests at a time will be allowed inside unless they are a family unit. People from out of state are respectfully asked to have either quarantined for 14 days or been tested before visiting the indoor buildings at Langlais.

In addition to visiting the property in Cushing, we invite the pubic to visit our website, https://www.georgesriver.org to gain more in depth appreciation of Langlais and the Preserve grounds. You can link to a short film at  https://www.georgesriver.org/langlais-videos/ created by Win Reber, seasonal Cushing resident. With reduced in-door hours this year at the Langlais Sculpture Preserve, we posted this film online where you can watch, along with other Langlais short films, in the comfort of your home.

We also have posted on line at:

https://www.georgesriver.org/langlais-pollinators/ information, including specific plant species, about our newly planted perennial pollinator garden, established and maintained thanks to the generosity of Jan Getgood, master gardener volunteers and Langlais gardeners.

Our hours of operation for the Preserve are posted at https://www.georgesriver.org/langlais-hours/

We hope you will come visit the Langlais Sculpture Preserve in person, and through our website. We are proud to own this unique and whimsical 90-acre coastal property that is a testament to creativity and beauty in nature. Please consider joining us in taking care of this special place.
