CONCORD, N.H. — Joseph Neil Donovan, 58, passed away Sept. 28, 2015, in Concord, N.H.
A celebration of life for Joe was held Oct. 14, 2015, in Canterbury, N.H. A graveside committal will be held Saturday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. at Sawyer Cemetery in Warren. A reception will follow at the Winslow-Holbrook-American Legion Post No. One, Veterans Memorial Drive, off upper Limerock Street in Rockland.
Born in Rome, N.Y., on Oct. 14, 1956, he was the son of John and Virginia Boggs Donovan. He was a graduate of Rockland District High School in Rockland, Maine.
On July 3, 2012, he married Tina-Marie Rae Pillsbury in Canterbury, N.H. He graduated from University of Maine at Orono with a Bachelor of Science in micro biology. Joe worked as a professional geologist for the State of New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services for 23 years, and retired in 2011.
He was involved with Bikers Against Child Abuse, and enjoyed scuba diving, snow skiing and travel. He retained a brown belt in karate, and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Joe loved his Jack Russell terriers, Mogin, Ebony and Little. Throughout his employment and personal interests he received many awards and recognitions.
In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his sister, Maureen Donovan. He is survived by his wife, Tina Pillsbury; his adopted children, Anthony “Tony” Donovan and his wife, Caroline, and Lindsey Donovan; three stepchildren, Shelly Hudson, Shawnna Bowman and Robert Pillsbury II; four grandchildren, Azalea, Jack, Lillian and Calvin; his brother, James Donovan and his wife, Michelle; as well as a niece, Katelyn Donovan.
