Joint Five Town CSD and Camden-Rockport school board meeting Friday afternoon for superintendent hiring process
The Five Town CSD Board of Directors, which governs Camden Hills Regional High School, and the Camden-Rockport School Board (K-8) will meet at 4 p.m., Friday, Jan. 9, in executive session to clarify the process for hiring a new superintendent.
The meeting will be held via Zoom.
It is a short agenda, and will be to appoint the Assistant Superintendent as secretary pro tempore in the absence of the Superintendent.
The purpose is procedural. Superintendent Maria Libby will not be absent from the districts' work, but by policy, she must be absent from the ongoing board discussions concerning the appointment of her successor. Which is why the Assistant Superintendent Jamie Stone is to be acting as Superintendent "for the time being" (pro temore, in Latin).
Libby is retiring at the end of this school year in June and the two school boards, for which Libby is current superintendent, are now interviewing candidates and considering her replacement.
And procedurally, the boards cannot meet without the Superintendent present; hence, Stone will be the superintendent in Libby's absence at the board meetings when the topic of a new superintendent is under discussion.
