ROCKLAND — It is with love in our hearts that we announce the gentle passing of our mother, grandmother, tante, co-worker and friend Huguette Lacasse (née Pellerin) of Montreal, Quebec at the age of 87 in Camden, Maine.

Huguette was predeceased by her husband, Marcel Lacasse, and is survived by their three children, Josée Stanyon and her daughter Samantha Evans; Marcel Lacasse Jr., his partner Karen and their two children Matthew and Allie; Robert Lacasse his wife Suzanne and their two daughters Hannah and Abigail.

“Behind every great man there is a great woman” .... Huguette, known to many as “Mrs. Marcel,” leaves a long, wonderful legacy in the hospitality industry starting in her family’s brasserie in Old Montreal and then north to
Hotel Le Chantecler in the Quebec Laurentians where she met her charming future husband, Marcel. Together they embarked on an exciting journey taking them from the snowy resort slopes of Quebec to the sunny beaches
of south Florida and from the nightclubs of New York City to vegetable gardens and chasing pigs on a hobby farm in Vermont – as life should be, it was an adventure…until finally making Coastal Maine home.

She will be remembered for delighting customers with her beautiful French accent, her renowned cheesecakes at Marcel’s Restaurant in Portland, her “old school” staff training in restaurant dining and room service at the Samoset Resort and for her strength, courage, perseverance, and undying faith in God during challenging times.

Without doubt, Huguette is reuniting with Marcel, loving family, and many friends for an amazing welcome home party with great food, wine and much laughter! Rest in Peace our beautiful Huguette – forever in our 

Family and friends are invited to visit Monday, December 13, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.

A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at 11 a.m., at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 150 Broadway, Rockland. Masks will be respectfully requested for those attending either event.
