Hope Historical Society to hear about new local D.A.R. book
The public is invited to the next meeting of Hope Historical Society, which will be held July 15, 2025. There will be a brief business meeting at 6:30 p.m., followed by guest speaker, Mary Kelly, Lady Knox DAR Historian. Kelly and Joanne Richards will share a PowerPoint presentation that will promote their [(DAR) Daughters of the American Revolution] Chapter’s book.
The book is entitled Fighting for Freedom, Fighting for Survival; it profiles the Revolutionary War and War of 1812 patriots and their families, buried at Tolman Cemetery, located on Lake Ave., Rockland.
"Many descendants of these patriots moved into our area – a few of these familiar names are Robbins, Spear, Ulmer, Keen, and Woster," said Hope Historical Society, in a news release. "Many of their offspring married and lived in Hope and the surrounding towns."
Richards and Kelly wrote many chapters – They have two chapters on the Keen family. The book will be available for purchase at this meeting.
