Route 131 South Thomaston traffic slowed after motor vehicle crash at Westbrook Street
SOUTH THOMASTON — St. George Road (Rt 131), in South Thomaston, was down to one lane for a while after a motor vehicle crash at the entrance to Westbrook Street, Tuesday, July 1.
Both vehicles came to a stop in the shoulder of the northbound lane, which allowed a traffic lane to be open for the very long lines of traffic that built up on both sides of the accident zone. The road was closed briefly while AutoMaster prepared each vehicle for transport.
One person opted to be taken to the hospital after being assessed by EMS on scene, following the approximate 3:40 p.m. collision between a passenger car and a pickup truck.
Because of the location and the categorizing of the crash by first-on-scene responders as a "head on," Thomaston police responded and stayed until deputies from the Knox County Sheriff's Office could arrive. At the first mention of a motor vehicle crash, South Thomaston requested an ambulance out of Thomaston. And, with Thomaston Ambulance tied up at this crash, Rockland EMS was deployed to a medical call in Thomaston. Thomaston firefighters assisted South Thomaston fire crews.
The road was reopened by 4:35 p.m.
