FRIENDSHIP — Jonathan Elmer James Sevon, “Lonnie”, 51, of Friendship, passed away unexpectedly at his home with his wife at his side on June 2, 2025. Lonnie was born in Rockland on May 19, 1974, to Arthur James Sevon and Charlene (King) Wallace.

Lonnie grew up and spent his entire life in Friendship. He was a lobsterman since he was a young boy and was often referred to as “a savage” on the water.

He married PeniJo Thompson July 4, 2014. He picked that specific date himself to celebrate their anniversary “with a bang” every year for 11 years. They loved taking long drives with no destination and spending rainy days in bed watching movies. Some of their dearest times together were spent with their grandchildren, Maddilynn, Ayva, Craig, and Emmett.

His three children, Ethan, Olivia, and Rourke, were his pride and joy as well as his four bonus children, Brianna, Abby, Travis and Taylah. When they were younger, he often took them on the boat with him teaching them the work of the water. Memories he held close to his heart. Ethan and Rourke often drove by his house revving the engines of their trucks to see if he was awake for great laughs, smiles, and good times. When he saw his daughter, Olivia, he would say, “there’s my baby girl” with a huge smile on his face.

He was always looking out for his mother and was there for here whenever she needed anything. They shared a very close relationship. He would frequently share conversations over the telephone with his sister keeping up on each other’s lives.

Lonnie had salt water in his veins without a doubt sharing his passion of the sea for 30+ years working beside his lifelong friend Donald Simmons, Jr. hauling lobsters, catching tuna and halibut fishing. His happy place was on the water and was admired for his amazing work ethic.

Lonnie will be remembered for many things, for his big smile, loud laugh, devotion to his children, mother and sister, his mad work ethic, love of the sea and beautiful crazy love for his wife.

Lonnie is predeceased by his father, Arthur Sevon and his wife, as well as his father-in-law, Henry Thompson, Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years, PeniJo Sevon; his mother, Charlene Wallace; his children, Ethan Reed, Olivia Sevon and Rourke Sevon, bonus children Brianna Johnson, Abby Johnson, Travis Reed and Taylah Reed; his only sister, Jeanie Sevon; nephew, Jason Weber; his best friend, Donald Simmons, Jr.; mother-in-law, Brenda Thompson and brother-in-law, Henry Thompson, Jr., along with many aunts, uncles and cousins from the King and Sevon families.

The family has chosen to honor Lonnie’s life privately, no services will be held.
