ROCKPORT — Thriftworthy, a new community thrift store run by Homeworthy, officially opens on Wednesday, June 24, at 618 West Street in West Rockport. 

Made possible through the donation of a building and the collective efforts of volunteers, donors, staff, and supporters, Thriftworthy is a volunteer-run initiative that will support Homeworthy's mission of fighting cycles of poverty and homelessness in Midcoast Maine.

Since donation drives began late last year, community members have contributed thousands of items to stock the store's shelves, including clothing, household goods, books, home décor, antiques, and more. Volunteers have spent countless hours sorting donations and organizing inventory to prepare the store for opening day.  according to Homeworthy, in a news release. 

"Thriftworthy represents the incredible generosity of our neighbors," said Molly Feeney, executive director of Homeworthy. "It has been so inspiring to see this space come to life over the past several months with the help of so many hands!”

Thriftworthy will be open Wednesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will accept donations during regular store hours.

Revenue generated from the store will help support Homeworthy's programs, including the Hospitality House Family Shelter, The Landing Place youth drop-in center, housing programs, case management, and other services that help individuals and families achieve stability and thrive.
