Homeless Coalition to receive 2026 Belfast Spirit of America Foundation Tribute
Midcoast Maine Homeless Coalition (MMHC) has been selected by the Belfast City Council to receive the 2026 Belfast Spirit of America Foundation Tribute in recognition of its community service and leadership in establishing Family Harbor House, a new transitional housing program for families experiencing homelessness in Waldo County.
The Spirit of America Foundation Tribute will be presented at the Belfast City Council meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, at 7 p.m., in City Hall.
Family Harbor House, located at 23 Mill Lane in Belfast, welcomed its first families on January 3, 2026, and now provides safe, stable housing, nutrition, and coordinated support services for three to four families at a time through a mix of professional staff, community partners, and local volunteers, according to MMHC, in a news release.
In addition to operating Family Harbor House, MMHC continues its longstanding work to prevent homelessness by assisting families at risk of losing housing due to financial hardship, according to the news release.
More information about Family Harbor House, volunteer opportunities, and MMHC’s work can be found at https://midcoast-maine-homeless-coalition.org.
