History talk: The local Finnish community, roots and contributions

In a Thomaston Historical Society talk, September 9, at 7 p.m., Scott Hodgkins, president of the St. George Historical Society, will explore the local Finnish community, its roots and its contributions to the area's economy and culture. The talk will take place in the hall on the lower level of the Federated Church at 8 Hyler Street.
15% to 18% of Knox County residents have Finnish ancestry, according to the historical society.
Anecdotes and questions from the audience are encouraged.
The entrance is from the parking lot behind the church, accessible off Hyler or Dunn Street.
