Gifted piano graces Thomaston Grammar School Common Ground Garden and Outdoor Classroom

An upright piano is the newest addition to the Thomaston Grammar School Common Ground Garden and Outdoor Classroom. A local citizen donated her personal piano and Knowlton Movers of Warren gave their moving services in kind.

The piano helps to create an ever-evolving outdoor classroom that now offers music.  Two timpani drums have also been given to the garden and reside on the garden rain-water collection stage alongside the piano.

On Tuesday, November 10, in the unseasonable, beautiful weather, an impromptu concert was held in the school garden.

Thomaston resident and accomplished pianist, Bill Hahn, along with local guitarist, Ronald Anderson, of Warren, entertained many in the outdoor space.  Bill and Ron had never met and never played together until this time.

The performance, unrehearsed, was fantastic and enjoyed by all the students and staff in attendance. Lynn Snow, who teaches fifth grade at the school and serves as the lead garden teacher, organized this fun event.

If there are other local pianist that would like to come to the garden to play the piano for students and staff, contact lsnow@rsu13.org.
