Fundraising underway for Camden family homeless after house fire
CAMDEN — Following a May 9 fire that destroyed a Park Street garage and car, and heavily damaged the adjacent house, a family of three was displaced and are looking at a year before their home is again habitable.
Camden born and raised Diane Dvorak and her two grandchildren, Cutler and Finn Dodge, who are in the ninth and 11th grade, respectively, at Camden Hills Regional High School, lost their home when a fire broke out in the garage. Much was lost in the fire, leaving the family lacking many necessities.
The River House Hotel is providing free lodging for Diane and Finn for the month of May while Cutler is staying at the home of close friends.
An effort is now underway to provide long-term housing for all three, and an account has been set up at all branches of Camden National Bank to receive donations. The account is under Diane Dvorak's name and the community is encouraged to help the family rebuild their lives. All contributions will go toward rebuilding their home and replacing household items.
Camden resident Kathy Valente is coordinating the fundraising effort, and is especially grateful to Jackie, at the River House Hotel, for providing immediate housing.
