Everyman Repertory Theatre performs Forgotten Classic 'BUS STOP!' March 15
ROCKPORT — Everyman Repertory Theatre performs its next Forgotten Classic, BUS STOP! Saturday, March 15, at 7 p.m., Pascal Hall, Rockport.
In the middle of a howling snowstorm, a bus pulls up at a roadside diner. All roads are blocked, and the weary travelers are going to have to hole up until morning. Cherie, a nightclub chanteuse, is being pursued by a young cowboy with a ranch of his own and the romantic methods of one of his bulls, ready to sling her over his shoulder and carry her all the way to Montana. The owner of the diner and the bus driver at last find time for their romance to blossom, while an out-of-work professor gently woos the diner’s waitress.
Written in 1955 by William Inge, it became hugely popular with Marilyn Monroe in the lead role in the 1956 film.
