Evelyn (Crockett) Anderson, obituary
WARREN — Evelyn Gregory (Crockett) Anderson, 88, passed away at home on Sunday, December 14, 2025 with her loving family at her side.
Born on September 18, 1937 in Camden, Maine, Evelyn spent her younger years moving around between northeastern states due to her father’s work as an executive for the Boy Scouts of America. Eventually, she landed in Burlington, Vermont where she graduated high school in 1955. After she graduated, her grandfather fell sick, and her family moved back home to Maine so her father could take over the 5 and Dime store her grandfather owned. After her return, she attended business school in Rockland. It wasn't much later that she met Gerald Anderson, who was home on leave from the Marines. They married in April of 1961 and settled in Warren. They started their family in 1962 with the birth of their son Scott. Their son Corey came along three years later.
Evelyn was a dedicated member of the Second Congregational Church of Warren where she worked as a secretary for many years.
She loved to donate to causes important to her, as well as give her time when she could. She was a Den Mother for Corey's Cub Scout troop, and she volunteered at the voting polls for over 20 years.
If you ever saw Evelyn around town, you would know she was a woman of style. She was always dressed head to toe in bright colors, complete with a wide brim hat, a perfectly pressed button up and pantsuit, pink lipstick, and a pocketbook she occasionally changed to match the season.
She was a natural entertainer and never missed a chance to perform. She was a Sea Princess in the Lobster Festival in the late 1950s, and in more recent years, she loved singing in her Church's variety shows with her duet partner Neil Stetson.
Nothing meant more to Evelyn than family, friends, and making memories. At every gathering, she always had her camera within reach so she could take pictures and capture every exciting moment.
She was a very engaged person and could talk for hours about anything and everything. She adored cats, even taking in an orange kitten that her grandson Tristan found on the streets of Camden. She loved to take trips to Cape Cod, one of her favorite places that she lived during her youth.
In short, Evelyn lived a long and fulfilled life, surrounded by everyone and everything she loved. She was a bright light in the lives of those who knew her and she will be greatly missed.
Predeceased by her parents, Fred and Beulah Crockett, and her sister Sally Crockett Fisher; Evelyn is survived by her spouse, Gerald Anderson; her sons, Scott Anderson and his wife Sandra, Corey Anderson; and their grandchildren, Tristan and Grace Anderson.
In keeping with her wishes, Evelyn’s family has chosen to remember her life privately.
