Edna Drinkwater shares food services, educational materials information

Mon, 03/16/2020 - 7:30pm

The following was shared by the administration at Edna Drinkwater School:

    Dear Families,

First, thank you for your flexibility during this closure. These are unprecedented times calling for an unprecedented response. Our priority at this point is keeping children, staff, and families safe.

Teachers have prepared academic packets for every student with work meant to help keep skills sharp while school is closed. You are not being asked to teach your child new material, but to give them the opportunity to practice skills. Packets are now available to be picked up by parents in the front foyer of the school, between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday through Thursday. They are organized by grade level. Please find your child’s packet to take home with you. Completed packets should be returned to school the week of March 30-April 3, in order for teachers to review and give feedback. New packets will be available to pick up at that time.

Due to the virus, parent teacher conferences have been cancelled. Second trimester report cards will be mailed home the week of Monday, March 23. Current work in the student packets will be reflected on the third trimester’s report card.

The school office will be open for calls Monday-Friday from 8:00 - 11:00 a.m. There will be no school access to parents beyond the foyer while we complete a total disinfection of our school. If you need anything, do not hesitate to email us, your child’s teacher, or Marcia in the office. We will be updating the school website and Facebook page as new information becomes available.

Above all, please stay safe. Social distancing is the one way that we can all help to alleviate the spread of this virus. The people of Northport are strong and we will get through this together. As always, thank you for what you do for your children.

    Sincerely,
    Mrs. Long, Superintendent
    Mr. Martin, Principal
