WASHINGTON – A Presque Isle woman was arrested Sunday evening, Sept. 26, 2021 after police said she drove around first responder roadblocks set up at a crash scene on Route 17 in Washington.

At approximately 5:05 p.m., Knox Regional Communication Center received reports that a pickup and trailer had crashed on the Augusta Road (Route 17) in the area of West Washington Road.

At approximately 6:35 p.m., while Knox County deputies, Washington Fire Department, Home Town Towing, and lines workers from Central Maine Power were still active at the scene, a gray 2010 Mitsubishi Endeavor disregarded the road closure and the directions of emergency personnel, and drove through the crash scene, according to Chief Deputy Patrick Polky, of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

The Mitsubishi was stopped by law enforcement as it passed through the scene.

During the stop, indicators of contraband were observed and a search, using a police K9, was conducted, according to Polky.

Allyson Adams, 34, of Presque Isle, was charged with failure to stop at a roadblock, operating after suspension, possession of scheduled drugs, failure to display Inspection, displaying improper plates, and failure to produce insurance.

The investigation into the initial crash continues; however initial findings shows that a maroon 2016 Chevy pickup truck hauling an enclosed utility trailer was traveling eastbound and crossed the center, went off the roadway into the left hand ditch, struck a utility pole and came to rest. The operator, Zachary Rogers, 40, of Hope, did not sustain injury.

The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

The roadway was closed for approximately 3.5 hours due to recovery of the vehicle as well as utilities repair.

Knox Regional Communications Center also assisted with the incidents.
