Down East Singers is up and running but in a very different direction! Our fall semester will begin Tuesday, September 22 and end just before Thanksgiving.

We will be using a combination of computer platforms to hold remote rehearsals and learning sessions (My Choral Coach, Rehearsal Live Stream). Some rehearsal activities will be held on Tuesday nights; other work can be done at the singer's convenience. All of it will be virtual.

Repertoire will include Schubert's German Mass (in English), a motet by Bortniansky and the immortal African-American hymn Lift Every Voice and Sing. Singers, if they wish, will be able to submit recordings of their voice parts that will be mixed by Arts Laureate into an audio-only virtual choir, accompanied by the Halcyon String Quartet and organ. Submitting a sound file for the recording is not a requirement.

The performance will air on Sunday, December 13, at 2 p.m., as the featured concert of Bay Chamber Concerts' winter series. The music will be played while artworks by Maine artists are displayed.

The registration fee for fall semester will be $70. To sign up please send a check to Down East Singers, PO Box 996, Rockport ME 04856-0996 or visit our website, downeastsingers.org and pay using PayPal.
